Hope for the Homeless!

8/16/2016

We had a wonderful day and turnout for our Hope for the Homeless day last Saturday! Over 30 homeless kids came (and brought their moms) and so we were able to bring smiles, hope, and happy critter-time to 40-50 homeless people. Whoo Hoo! We also had over 20 volunteers who all pitched in to make it a wonder-filled day. Kids learned about horses, rode around the trail, checked out our new chicks, played in the treehouse, took a hay ride to the bunny barn where they pet and learned about bunnies (and chinchillas), pet the donkeys, led the mini horses around, played in our new toddler area, and ate yummy snacks brought by the volunteers and pizza donated by Papa Murphy's. Moms got good advice from other moms and from homeless liaison, Cheryl Camany. And then there's my favorite thing of the day … at the end a homeless mom came up to me with her young daughter and told me that her little girl has always dreamed of touching a horse. They believed that wasn't a dream that would realized any time soon! But at Wonder Wood Ranch her little girl had not only touched a horse, she'd ridden and ridden and ridden around our Wonder Wood Trail on many horses all afternoon! That's how our God is - He doesn't just meet our little dreams, He gives us more wonder, more joy, more beauty than we'd ever dared to imagine! It filled my soul to hear how we brought Hope to that quiet little girl on Saturday. It reminded me that that's what we do around here: We bring HOPE ON HOOVES to the hurting!
