SPONSORSHIP

Last year, Wonder Wood Ranch served over 1,000 at-risk kids and youth. We are on track to serve even more this year! But we need your help! Be a hero to a kid-in-need by sponsoring him/her in one or more of the programs at Wonder Wood Ranch. All contributions are 100% tax-deductible (EIN #81-2269799).
Volunteers are also needed for each program.

To sponsor, simply make your contribution via check made out to Wonder Wood Ranch (and sent to 8100 Wild Horse Rd., Salinas, CA 93907), Venmo to Wonder Wood-Ranch, or via PayPal using marlo@wonderwoodranch.com. Mention the name of the program in the note section, and your contribution will impact the life of a kid who is most in need! For information about private horsemanship lessons (for which part of the fees are donated to the Ranch's work with at-risk kids), email briaschalesky@icloud.com. For information about private equine therapy sessions, email marlo@wonderwoodranch.com.

We count on your support to bring hope and healing through horses to the most at-risk kids in our community. Our goal is to raise $150,000 per year. With your help, we can make a difference for good!

Our Animals & Art program is supported by the Arts Council for Monterey County and combines the power of animals and artistic expression to heal and give hope to kids who are the most at-risk in our community. T.A.I.L.S. Leadership Academy

Picture
Picture
Our impactful TAILS program is currently partially funded through a grant from Yellow Brick Road and is seeking further support.
T.A.I.L.S stands for:
            Trauma-informed
            Animal-assisted
            Interactive
            Leadership
            Skills development

TAILS is a weekly program either offsite (such as at juvenile hall where a pilot program is underway) or onsite at Wonder Wood Ranch. Each week, various animals are incorporated into the session, such as full-sized or miniature horses or donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, chinchillas, guinea pigs, etc.. Our staff facilitates a trauma-informed, interactive session designed specifically to develop positive, compassionate leadership skills in trauma-impacted kids/youth. Our fun, hands-on methods and activities help kids/youth to break through long-standing barriers so that they can envision a violence-free future and acquire the tools to accomplish such a future! This program is also available in individual sessions to victims of human trafficking (initiation of the human trafficking portion of this program was also supported through a grant from Yellow Brick Road).
REFERRAL FORMS TO THIS PROGRAM CAN BE FOUND HERE and emailed to: marlo@wonderwoodranch.com

SPONSORSHIP: $100/kid (per session)

Critters & Classics

Picture
Our Critters & Classics program combines the power of classic literature with hands-on activities related to the reading. This program not only increases literacy but also strongly promotes a love for reading by combining beloved classics such as Charlotte's Web, Black Beauty, and the Giving Tree, with engaging activities involving the animals themselves. Imagine reading about Wilbur and then scratching the tummy of a real pig, or learning about the trials of Black Beauty and then caring for a real horse. What better way to learn to love reading! This program is taught by a professional, multi-published and award-winning author.      SPONSORSHIP: $50 kid

Critters, Classics, & Creative Writing

Picture
Launched through an opportunity grant from The Community Foundation of Monterey Country, this program is now available to schools, individual classes, and groups of at-risk kids/youth, as well as individuals. This program provides hands-on education about animals combined with classic literature (such as Black Beauty, Charlotte's Web, The Giving Tree, etc.), and professional writing instruction. The goal is not only to increase literacy but to create a love for reading and writing that will help kids to make better life choices and find alternatives to violence. This program is taught by a professional, multi-published and award-winning author. Programs available to ages 4 and above, focusing on grades 5-12.

Open Volunteer Time
Picture
For those who want to stay connected to the Ranch outside of regular programs or sessions, or for those looking for community service hours, check out our Open Volunteer Saturdays! Volunteers come from 10am to noon every Saturday to help clean, take care of the animals, and lend a hand to make the Ranch a success! No riding, just being a part of the wonder at Wonder Wood Ranch!

Every Saturday, 10am -Noon
Kids 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Day Camps

Picture
Our summer day camps include both on-site horse camps and off-site camps for kids who have no other opportunities to be involved in summer camps. These camps aim to transform lives through focused week-long camps during the summer. Kids learn about ranch life, learn to ride on their own, and are trained for positive life activities. Horse camps are usually only available to kids who can afford it. With your help, these life-transforming camps can be experienced by the neediest and most at-risk in our community. Camp changes lives and will be remembered for a lifetime! Your donation will make a forever-impact on the life of a kid who would never be able to have this kind of experience.

SPONSORSHIP: $375/kid

Picnic in the Pasture

Picture
Picnic in the Pasture is a fun program for kids of all ages. Our most basic, introductory program allows kids to experience our animals while having a fun "picnic" at the Ranch. We find that even simple exposure to the Ranch environment and the animals can open kids to hope and new perspectives in life. A mere $30 can provide lunch and a wonder-filled experience for kids who otherwise are stuck inside their homes due to neighborhood violence and gang activity.

SPONSORSHIP: $30/kid

Boronda Manor Horses & Hope

Picture
Picture
Our Boronda Manor program is supported by the Arts Council for Monterey County to bring art, fun, and wonder of childhood to kids at Boronda Manor and other low income apartment complexes in North Salinas. Wonder Wood Ranch has targeted a specific high-crime area in North Salinas to bring this impactful program. Our first program has launched at Boronda Manor, a low-income apartment complex with over 500 kids. Regularly, we bring a message of hope along with animals-related art, crafts, activities, food, and other fun to the kids at Boronda Manor, at no cost to them. We hope to expand to other low-income apartment complexes in the area as well as the local elementary and middle schools. We aim to transform this gang-impacted area of our city with the power of horses and hope! Can you help?
